It's been a long hard month doing four fairs in three weeks and officiating a wedding.
Holiday sales have started and orders are coming in. I am trying to keep up with restocking holiday items and the most popular items listed. I have a hard time keeping dragons in stock. If the item you want is listed at zero quantity, please contact me for a custom order. I can make and set one aside for you.
I'm working on fairs for next year. I'm not going to be doing all PPD. I'll be branching out to art festivals and Celtic festivals next year. I'll be applying to Allentown Art Festival in Buffalo, NY in June and Letchworth State Park Art Festival in October. They are both juried so it remains to be seen if I will be accepted.
I'll definitely be at The Magickal Marketplace and Psychic Fair in Nashua, NH on March 25th and at Sirius Rising in July. I'll create a calendar list as soon as I send in applications and decided definitely on fairs. I'm taking a few risks next year. I played it a bit safe this year with pagan events. Some panned out and some didn't provide the return I needed to pay expenses and material costs. I'll be dropping events where I didn't make a profit.
I have hopes for next year. I really would like to do better than making my booth fee back.
In the mean time it's restocking, making my rune tree ornament set, fulfilling a couple custom orders and sketching out my spirit animals. I hope to have restocking and custom done by the end of November and start creating spirit animals in December. Goals!
After finishing the ornament bells I've been taking time off for the holidays. I won't really be starting anything new until January. Although I have been fermenting ideas of a couple of small panels for a custom order request I got this week. Mostly just planning and letting it ferment in my head as to how I'm going to approach the lines of the panel.
I also hope to get the Imbolc Pentacle finally done and have started simple Rune sketches for small window suncatchers. I may work on larger and more intricate Rune panels later on. I have to let that idea gestate as well.
I have been receiving custom orders lately and have been happily busy on those.
I will be having a large sale on select jewelry for cyber Monday. I have decided to close out a few lines. I want to focus more on my glass work. However, I will still be adding to my charm bracelet line of jewelry.
Creativity is a weird thing. I've never really been able to figure out what contributes to it.
This winter when I was drawing my ideas for panels I would schedule time to sit and just draw whatever came to mind. I kind of let it flow. I had no idea ahead of time what I was going to do.
Sometimes before sleep ideas would pop into my head in response to questions I would ask. I'd have to get up and jot the image onto a notecard. Usually very poorly.
I'd contemplate a pentacle design for Imbolc or some other theme. I'm still working on that idea actually. I have a pentacle with a candle in mind but I need to work out the lines and shapes for the glass pieces for cuttability.
Sometimes ideas don't come at all. I'll hit a lull in the waves and not be able to conjure any images or themes. I'm in one of those funks right now. I just finished 11 pieces last month, part of my pentacle collection, and I'm back to recycling some of my old designs in new forms.
I'll spend the next couple of weeks punching out suncatchers for the fair and the website. Something secular and mainstream like xmas wreaths, trees, pumpkins, flowers, etc. I do need more on the lower price tier in my inventory.
Jewelry has been shelved temporarily so I can focus on a wedding dress and writing a ritual for the big day. I have to keep reminding myself that I've done this before. I was priestess at another's wedding and had a handfasting of my own. Nerves set in and I start doubting myself.
In the mean time, during the lull of creativity, I'm throwing myself into gardening. Heavy duty gardening that involves a shovel and a wheel barrow.
I've finished the cat panels and really think I should have made it without the separate sections. Even with the copper restrip inside the lead came it is bending. I could have used a zinc or other strong metal instead of the lead.
Next time I'll make it as one piece instead of sections.
I used a goldstone bead for the Crow's Eye. It's sparkly.
This one I'll mount in a wooden frame and use a couple of flat bars to support the middle. Two short ones for one side and one long one for the other in opposite directions.
Waiting for the putty to get harder and then I'll clean it up and work on getting the wood ready for the frame. I'll have to find some metal bars that will work.
Finished 6 pentacle designs in two weeks. I'm taking today off and i'll get back to it. I have a few more pentacles that are new and I haven't cut yet. Earth, Fire, Spirit with feathers, Water, and morning glories.
I'll have a whole pentacle series.
I have so much stock in jewelry.
The Cat panel has just the lead came to do. I'll be heading to the store tomorrow to pick up came with a thicker channel. The glass I'm mostly working on with this panel is Spectrum Baroque. It's streaked with color and uneven. It doesn't quite fit into the regular 5/32 channel in the regular came.
The local supply store has came with a slightly wider channel. There's also an adjustable channel in zinc came.
I think I'll stick with lead came though. I really like the look and the heft it has.
There are so many things I want to say about my work and Facebook is not always the right medium for this. Currently working on a very large window. I have each section cut, ground, and foiled and ready to solder. I really hope to solder a ton this weekend.
I've made the cat a fluffy looking orange cat with a white foot, white tail tip and one white ear.
I came up with this idea over a year ago after my cat had cancer and needed to be put to sleep.
I love ravens and crows. They are such intelligent birds with such unique personalities.
